What the .....
I very rarely post on forums but today I was hoping for some sanity - and to have a small rant!
I had a graphics card crash 3 months ago and today (FINALLY ... thank God) I am back and able to game, no more relying on an on board card to only able to read the news but back gaming!
I logged on to GW's, waiting for everything to down load and 'woohoo' I was back ... only to be in Lions Arch and wondering if I had instead logged on to a teenage dating service. Instead of the previously irritating 'WTS' I was met with a stupid log of what can only be calling a teen geek dating service.
This wasn't just in Lions but in every main town and in every district I went to. The responses to my question if "Anything new happening since I've been outta the game for 3 months due to graphics probs" resulted in varying responses of 'depends - are you hot?', 'Wanna cyber f*ck for the info?' to 'aw come on baby you know you only asking coz you want me' . It left me wondering why I was back!
Ok I maybe female, but guys - us women gamers can actually be here for the art of gaming you know!
Is this really what the game has become? I caught one old friend on line who praised the next chapter but my experiance today left me wondering what has happened to on line gaming? I use to love coming home from work, having dinner then settling down for a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of real life and sharing skill and intelligence with some good gamers - good in conversation if not always in gaming!
I met one person today who was willing to give a genuin gamers insight everyone else wanted cyber sex - so please all you out there who write here, give me some faith back in the game because from what I saw today I want to go back to NeverWinter and only PVE (ALONE!).
End rant and thanks for listening!

Must be that one night. the only area full of teen talk i would say would be the two started areas. Pre Ascalon and Shing jea. Besides that its much better in other areas. Must have been bad luck,.

yeh its sad.. i typically stick to talking with my guildies who are just as bad sometimes but they only joke.. and it doesn't really offend anyone in our guild.. uncluding the females who actually are worse than we are
But sadly.. i as a male know what how you feel, of course i got bored playing through the game with 3 male characters so i made 2 females (necro and monk) and well necro just happens to have some of the skimpier (sexier ) outfits and i get spammed that from time to time "CYBER ***K FOR ECTO PLOX" and i just hit the ignore list.. its so annoying but best way to get rid of it is to ask all questions about 3 months on forums and not in game and keep local chat off

Couple of quick reponses to the fast feedback I had ...
Yup fully agree it might have been a one off / bad time to log in but also nice to know others hit that ignore as fast as I do!
And second, definately right I should have had the sense to log on to guru first and ask what are the good updates in the last 3 months and what do I check out first! But in my defence, no graphics card for 3 months I just wanted to get in there!!
Thanks though for showing me not all are idiots!

I would definetly suggest checking out the guild wars site for the game updates...not sure when the "major" adjustments were made...armor nerf..some other skill nerfs...and several buffs to the assassin and ritualists.
Also Nightfall is to be released at the end of next month. Hrmm..i believe there was some changes to GVG with the victory or death time frame and some new NPCs put in..
I am sorry to see that GW has come to the above mentioned abuse. I always play a male toon (since i am a guy) :P so I haven't personally seen any of that...only thing i can say is max out your ignore list and/or make a male toon or stay away from dist 1-2 in most cities

I have to say my experience thus far has been pretty positive. I haven't run into the teenie crap other than once or twice in the past couple months and even then I just switched districts: problem solved. Hope you have better luck in the future

A simple question: Are you on American or European sever?
Personally I play on europoean servers (even though I live in Canada). I have only 2 male characters out of 10 (I'm a male player), and I hardly ever have problems with moronic people. Then again, I for the most part try to keep my female characters somewhat decent looking.

Sorry Seren; with all the other hubub due to other special events in the game, people have just forgotten to post about this on forums.
Thursday is now ladies night in GW
JK: well, not much in the last 3 months really. Online store is up, like it or not. There was a double fame weekend a while back if HA's your bag. R3 has lost what meaning it had to many "upper tier" players.
There have been several shifts in Cantha; Kurzick's have been making some serious pushes in AB. Actually, that was about the time the Keys folded on the Luxon side.
You're logged as a Wa/Mo: they gave eviserate a small nerf. I've been running Cleave/Dismember(Dismember got a buff) and its been doing well in PvE and PvP.
henchmen supposedly got a boost to their AI. I have yet to see a difference.
The big change is upcoming Nightfall. If you like PvE, wait a while and get reaquanted with old friends. the story looks to be much more involving than Factions.
And they tweeked the faces again. Some of the female rangers look like that guy from the 80's show Beauty and the Beast.
Those are the highlights I guess. PuGs are PuGs, elitism is everywhere, All chat is NOT your friend and we're never getting an Auction House.
Welcome back

Ya...
Its normal. However, the high amount of adolescent banter you saw may have been a fluke as most here have already suggested. As with most all online games, there is a vast population of hormonal teenagers with short attention spans, so when they get bored of gaming, they resort to chatting mischief.
We are always gonna see it, but take hope! There are also the large population of mature, fun luving players who can help you enjoy your GW experience! Im glad to see a lot of people already respond and empathize with you, so i hope you keep gaming knowing that not ALL your GW gaming will be that bad... =P
cheers!

Everyone thanks for your support - needed to let off some steam last night but giving it another shot today and hoping to run in to friends. Its a shame to know the idiots are still about but then guess they always will be just looks like I was really unlucky last night.
Minus Sign, really appreciated your highlights especially your advice concerning Nightfall
Curse You - I am on European Server but was jumping to US last night as well.
Thanks everyone once again and I wish you all fun and very few idiots!

seren you dont need to be female to get sad little kids wanting to cyber you, all you need is a female char. thats the reason when i remade my monk recently i made a male one even though i HATE the male monk faces.
one thing though, ascalon pre searing is way worse for stupid kids harrassing female characters than lions arch.

Guess those clothes for the female chars are just too damn sexy then - doesn't matter if even hairy legged males are wearing them! I have to wonder why they come on a game to try and get their kicks though, plenty of idiot little kids chat rooms about!
Lady Lozza, yup I am Welsh - though living with my Dutch husband in Holland who ironically I met on line!
... and yup Dahnel, I am damn hot *grin*

Thought so a friend of mine is called Seren, rather unique name. She is Welsh - so is her hubbie, and he is hot...
Did I say that aloud???
Anywho, back on topic - my all channel is off. Has been for a little while when I got sick of the teen-talk. My guild channel is also facing the cut at the moment... For the same reason.
